Green Media Fellowship

Empowering Africa's green future.

Africa is the world’s youngest continent, yet there’s a recorded paucity of awareness levels, knowledge and active participation of youths in decision-making processes, particularly regarding climate actions, education and innovations. The effects of climate change in recent times are felt most drastically in African countries due to lack of resources to protect the people. This has become an issue of grave concern, yet fewer persons remain informed on these issues and possible sustainable solutions to adapt to climate change. This can be attributed to limited awareness campaigns, political instabilities threatening security, high illiteracy levels, and poverty. At times, misrepresentation in media reports and research goes largely unnoticed and inadequately addressed, often due to a lack of capacity and technical expertise in conducting and communicating effective climate discourse, reporting, and research.

This Project aims to drive active participation among youths at all community levels to tackle climate change and environmental issues by facilitating capacity building and dialogues on a broad spectrum of perspectives on climate change, energy transition, and green innovation. Through media reporting, advocacy, engagement, and awareness campaigns, the project will delve into employing youth-focused innovative solutions and cutting-edge stories through research for sustainable climate development.
